Doha World Indoor 2010 60m semi-finalist, Ogho-Oghene Egwero's 10.32 secs 100m win, Chinazor Amadi 6.37 metres Long Jump and Margaret Etim of Ondo -State 200m (23.99 secs) and 400m (52.77 secs) double victory are the highlights of the 2nd AFN Golden League meet at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan last weekend.
The Kaduna 2008 National Sports Festival revelation, took a commanding lead from the start to win ahead of Benjamin Adukwu who finished second in 10.48 secs. Fred Ovie Agbaje settled for third place in 10.54 secs.
Josephine Omaka took the women's 100m with 11.77 secs ahead of Agnes Osazuwa.
Osazuwa, a member of the Beijing 2008 Olympics 4x100m bronze winning team, clocked 11.85 secs, Chinazor Amadi was third in 11.88 secs and Tawa Adegoke fourth in 11.93 secs.
Margaret Etim won the women's 200m and 400m double to remain on course for the jackpot. She took the 200m in 23.99 secs ahead of Bukola Abogunloko (24.03 secs) and Glory Bassey (24.08 secs).
Etim then repeated the same in the women 400m with 52.77secs clocking. Bukola Abogunloko was second with 53.44 secs, while Josephine Ehigie tagged in at 54.03 secs.
The men's 400m race was won by Biola Onakoya in 46.81 secs. Nwafor Onyeji and Jonathan Majuokuedo, with 47. 38 secs and 47.77 secs, settled for second and third places respectively.
Agidi Omoyemi won the 5,000m with 17:11.98, Joy Sunday won the female 400m hurdles in 59.92 secs and Samuel okon won the men’s in 53.47secs.
The third leg of the Golden League will hold in Lagos on the weekend of April 30.
The top three athletes for each event are to receive cash prizes of N20,000, N15,000 and N10,000 respectively.
