Ogho-Oghene Egwero 100m triumph and Margaret Etim's successive 200m and 400m victories were the highlights of the 5th Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Golden League meeting at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, Imo State last weekend.
Egwero of Delta State, who missed the last meeting in Makurdi, won in 10.32 secs with Ondo State Uzodinma Aniagolu second in 10.65 secs and Nathaniel Oletu of Delta third in 10.70 secs.
Fast-rising home star Etim was in cruise control comfortably winning the women's 400m in an impressive 51.45 secs, with Josephine Ehigie of Police second in 53.71 secs and Charity Adegoke of Delta settling for third in 53.75 secs.
Etim also won the women's 200m in 23.73 secs. Shola Ogundemi of the Civil Defence Corps was second in 24.05 secs and Stella Silas of Rivers State was third with 24.75 secs.
Meanwhile the AFN has released the list of qualifiers for the final Golden League meeting scheduled for Oghara, Delta State on June 18, 2010.
