Defending champion Alex Matata of Kenya and Ethiopia’s Ftaw Zeray, with personal records of 59:11 and 65:12 respectively, are favourites to win in Istanbul on Sunday.
Both defending champions, Alex Matata and fellow-Kenyan Miriam Chebet, will return to the 2026 Türkiye Is Bankasi Istanbul Half Marathon on Sunday April 19.
Alex Matata won the Istanbul Half Marathon with 59:40, while Miriam Chebet overtook Sheila Chelangat to win the women’s race in 1:06:07.
The 20th edition of the Türkiye Is Bankasi Istanbul Half Marathon will be staged on Sunday, four days after an earthquake hit the metropolis.
