The Government of Ghana has agreed to host the 24th CAA African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra.
This decision was made official with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) and Ghana Athletics Association on January 11.
The MoU was signed by Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adam at a ceremony in the Ministry.
Ghana will host the 24th edition of the championships from May 12 to 17, 2026 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Legon in Accra.
Important guests at the signing included: the President of CAA, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum; the CEO, Lamine Faty; and Chief Tonobok Okowa, the First Vice President of CAA and President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
Ghana Athletics Association was represented by its President, Bawah Fuseini.
Representatives of other key sports organisations, such as the Ghana Olympic Committee and the National Sports Authority were also present. They all showed confidence in Ghana’s ability to host a successful event.
The MoU confirmed that Ghana is ready to meet all the requirements needed to host the Championships successfully.
