WADA finalises second phase of Code consultation process

The World Anti-Doping Agency - WADA

The World Anti-Doping Code Agency (WADA) has announced the completion of the second Code consultation phase, ending the four-and-half month period during which WADA stakeholders have been able to make their recommendations for amending the World Anti-Doping Code and related International Standards.

All submissions will now be considered by the Code Drafting Team and a second draft of the 2015 Code and first drafts of the International Standards will be presented at WADA’s Executive Committee and Foundation Board meetings in November.

The next and last consultation phase will begin December 1, 2012 and end March 1, 2013. During this time stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the drafts and also review comments from earlier in the process.

The Code Review Process, which commenced on  November 28, 2011, is highly consultative and allows WADA to coordinate any amendments needed to the Code.

It runs for two years, has three rounds of consultation for the Code, as well as two for the International Standards, and culminates in a new draft to be presented to WADA’s Foundation Board at the World Conference in Johannesburg from November 12-15, 2013.

By sharing their practical experiences via the online consultation platform WADAConnect, stakeholders provide constructive feedback which enables WADA to enhance the Code and help in the fight against doping in sport.

WADA has urged stakeholders to create a user account with the consultation platform using the user-friendly guide, which can be found by clicking here.
