2012 in Review: No end in sight for African drain

Abeba Aregawi representing Ethiopia at the London 2012 Olympics

As the year 2012 draws to a close, more African athletes continued to transfer their allegiances away from the continent.

According to the latest IAAF newsletter, three athletes from Morocco and Kenya will no longer compete for their country of birth as they seek greener pastures with France.

Also highly talented Abeba Aregawi, the Ethiopian 1,500m record-holder (3:56.54 set in Rome May 31, 2012) seizes to represent the African country since last week. The Ethiopian has opted to represent Sweden in international competitions.
