The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the CAA Asaba 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships will hold a fund-raising dinner on Thursday 12 July at the Grand Hotel, Asaba, featuring the creme de la creme of Delta State and sports in Nigeria.

According to Bukola Olopade, the sponsorship and brand consultant for Asaba 2018, all the friends of Delta State, captains of industries, who-is-who in Nigeria will all be on the ground to support Delta as they get set for another milestone, this time in sports.

In a statement issued by Olukayode Thomas, head of media and publicity for Asaba 2018, he revealed that the Commissioners for Finance and Information in Delta State are working round the clock to ensure that next week’s fund-raising dinner is successful.

It is understood that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration renowned for the innovative SMART agenda hinged on financial prudency is doing everything possible to see that the upcoming CAA African Athletics Championships is majorly-driven by private sector funds.

Olopade reiterated the importance of sports as a veritable tool for youth development and empowerment, for tourism boost and for quick development of infrastructure.

While he noted that the Asaba stadium is a lasting legacy of Governor Okowa, he urged all friends of Delta State and sports as a whole to join hands with the governor to make the planned fund-raising dinner a success.

“Governor Okowa is doing all he can to use sports to further boost the growing profile of Delta State and for me; that is a great step in the right direction. I will enjoin all the friends of Delta and of course sports to show support for this noble course at the fundraising.” Olopade stated.
