Athletics Africa is a dedicated source for Africa athletics news content and information at home and in the diaspora. We are Africa’s first niche track and field content studio devoted to the promotion and growth of grassroot athletics development on the African continent.
Athletics Africa digital team uses immersive and powerful editorials, video series and live podcasts, across multiple platforms, to take athletics fans beyond the track and field to sneek a peek into the backstories, personalities and lifestyles of top African athletes.
We provide up-to-date news and information about African athletes, administrators and officials globally throughout the day as close to real-time as possible.
Our award-winning website also offers incisive features and articles written by the editors and sourced from freelance reporters and athletics experts across the continent.
Owned by AthleticsAfrica Limited (RC 8673431), the Athletics Africa brand is managed by Yomog Sports & Media – a sports news, design and media management company headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria.
Our legacy website, AthleticsAfrica.Com – developed by Yomi Omogbeja, a Finalist at the 2004 Press Gazette UK Student Online Journalist of the Year awards – was awarded the 2011 Telkom/SABC HighwayAfrica new media award for journalism innovation in Africa in 2011.
This website was originally prepared in partial fulfilment of the award of MA in Web Journalism (2003-2004) at the Department of Journalism Studies, University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
