Samsung joins Addis train

Samsung, the world’s largest electronics and information technology company, today signed an agreement to become the official electronics partner for the 16th CAA African Athletics Championships in Addis Ababa (30 April- 04 May 2008).

In a deal brokered by Nova Africa Events PLC, the official marketing agent for Addis 2008, Samsung joins a prestigious list of sponsors that have confirmed their association with one of Africa’s largest sporting competitions.

“Samsung sponsors many international sports events,” said Richard Dong Hyuk, Samsung’s head of Africa and the Middle East.

“We are official sponsors for the Beijing Olympics and fhte football world cup. To this effect, we are proud of being associated with such a prestigious event which will increase our brand visibility in Africa.”

Gashaw Zergaw, General Manager of Nova Africa Events PLC, said on this part, “The addition of Samsung, an international electronics partner with a huge market presence in Ethiopia, is a testament that our championships has attracted interest not only from domestic and continental sponsors, but also from international companies.”
