Nigerian Oke and Moroccan Berrabah soar to victory in Barcelona

Nigeria's Tosin Oke and Morocco's Yahya Berrabah on Friday posted impressive performances at the 2011 Míting Ciutat de Barcelona d'Atletisme (17th Barcelona International Athletics Meeting) - an EA premium meeting.

The Miting Ciutat de Barcelona has been considered the best Spanish athletics meeting over the past three years by the IAAF and this edititon on Montjuic Mountain featured the crème de la crème.

Berrabah won the men's Long Jump in the Catalan capital with a personal best leap of 8.37m. British record holder Chris Tomlinson, with 8.20m was second and Spain's Luis Felipe Meliz was third with 8.18m.

Ghana's Ignisious Gaisah was 5th with 8.05m and Nigeria's Samson Idiata was 7th with a best effort of 7.90m.

Tosin Oke won the men's Triple Jump with a leap of 17.20m ahead of Henry Frayne of Australia (17.04m) and Evgeniy Semenenko of Ukraine (16.95m)

In other results, Eritrean multiple World Half Marathon champion, Zersenay Tadese, clocked 12:59.32 to win the men's 5000m.

Kenya's Jayrus Birech Kipchoge took the men's 3000m Steeplechase in 8:13.52, Briton Christine Ohurogu (of Nigerian parentage) won the women's 400m in 51.49 secs whilst Nigeria's Josephine Ehigwe wom the women's 400m B race in 53.83 secs.
